The PCC and congregation of St Bede’s recognise the importance of looking to the future, building on our tradition of being a friendly and inclusive church with services that are open and relevant to all. We understand that we must continue to welcome the wider community into our place of worship and use our activities to help bring the community closer to God’s presence. To this end we will find ways to engage the local community and particularly encourage young families and children to share in our worship, building on our already thriving youth church and sustaining the growth of the parish in years to come. It is our responsibility to find ways of encouraging the younger members of the congregation to take ownership of the church through service as youth leaders, lay assistants, church officers and Ordained Local Ministry. This will allow the spiritual needs of our congregation to continue to be met. We will be able to build on the work done in the past and with God’s help we will go from strength to strength. In recent months we have been given the opportunity to consider furthering our partnership with arguably our most valuable local contact in the community - our Church of England aided primary school. We will build on our strong relationship with the school and recognise that the school provides us with valuable way to reach out to the wider community. By strengthening our ties with the school we will be able to engage with those of other ethnic backgrounds who attend the school, giving us an opportunity to look forward to a greater degree of inter-faith understanding and fellowship in Morris Green. We are looking to the diocese to find a leader who can lead us forward to spread the word of God in our community. |
