    I'm sure there will be more on the event in due course, but I take this opportunity to say a huge 'thank you' to everyone who was at Scargill on Sunday 7th of February for that very special service, as we welcomed Phil and Di ‘officially’ into their new life, roles and responsibilities.

    Notes from the Council Meeting on January 14th Some Council members were unable to attend due to the icy conditions, and after much email negotiation and inspection of weather forecasts, the meeting went ahead but was relocated to Manchester.

    It was a sort of guinea-pig convention. Thirty or so generous souls actually paid money so that we could practice our organising, cleaning, cooking, serving, decorating, hosting, entertaining and pool playing skills.

    Three months ago Bridget and I lived near Eastbourne in Sussex. We don’t any more. We live in North Yorkshire now, near the village of Kettlewell, home of the famous Calendar girls. Walk a mile from Kettlewell in the direction of Conistone, and you will find the entrance to Scargill House. Just inside the big black gates at the bottom of the drive you will discover two semi-detached cottages. We live in the one on the right.
